Trapper Creek

Trapper Creek hike was not what I would call an easy hike, but then maybe I am a wimp, it was roughly 15 mi. round trip to the observation point, and the view once we got to the lookout area was no less than spectacular... we had a panoramic view of Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier, and Mt. Hood. We chose this vantage point to have lunch, and to sit back and watch the clouds float by over head.

Trapper Creek is not a well known hike, but worth the trip if you should decide to go. The lookout point was used as a fire watch back in the early part of this century, and the trails can be considered a bit primitive and sometimes difficult to navigate but with the right gear, enough water, food, and a map this should be a fun, and fantastic hike. For this hike you will also want to make sure you have a good first aid kit and whistle stowed in your pack.

One thing to keep in mind when preparing for this hike is your sharing the forest with a good many other animals...most of whom don't want anything to do with you, but...one can never be too careful...be alert...I am pretty sure that on our way down I spied something rather large, brown and furry watching me...the bf laughed and told me it was Big Foot...screw that Big Foot I can handle...I was worried bout cougars and bobcats and bears...oh my!
